1. What this site is

Probate Navigator is a free, informational website about UK probate and Inheritance Tax for England and Wales. It is general information, not legal or tax advice, and reading it does not create a solicitor-client or other professional relationship. There are no user accounts, no login, no payments, and nothing to purchase.

2. What we do not do

We do not — and by law cannot — prepare or submit a probate application, an Inheritance Tax account, or any other legal document on your behalf. Nothing on this site is a substitute for regulated legal or tax advice about your specific circumstances; several pages recommend speaking to a solicitor for exactly that reason.

3. Acceptable use

You may use this site only for lawful purposes. You agree not to attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it at a volume that degrades it for other visitors, or use it to impersonate Probate Navigator or misrepresent its content elsewhere.

4. Intellectual property

The text, design and structure of this site are ours; the factual figures and rules it describes are drawn from public GOV.UK and HMRC sources, cited on each page. You may quote and link to this site; please do not republish whole pages as your own.

5. No warranty and limitation of liability

This site is provided "as is." While every figure is dated and sourced from GOV.UK/HMRC at the time it was verified, tax and probate rules can change, and we cannot guarantee the content is error-free or current at the moment you read it — always check the "verified" date on each page and the linked official source. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from reliance on this site in place of professional advice.

6. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time by posting a revised version on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
